Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks his maiden championship following the Rome competition and first on a hard court from March of 2023.

Success also indicates he has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a championship is really nice," said ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's defensive strategy and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an improved serve.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to create a decider.

The opponent saved 4 early-game chances in a tight final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev secured victory with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
